Stainless Steel Reeds
We sell ONLY stainless steel reeds in many standard sizes. These are the standard 'pitch' reed used by most loom manufacturers for many decades. No Rust! ie. a 22" Norwood loom uses a 22.5" reed. A 26" Schacht Baby Wolf uses a 27"x 4.5" reed. A 36" Harrisville uses a 37" reed. Most 45" looms use a 46.5" reed.
If you want one of these reeds shortened in length, we can do that. Choose a reed long enough to accommodate the overall length and height you want it cut to("buy" it, that's the price of the basic reed), click on "cut to length" and specify the overall length (including end pieces) you want. This adds a $3 cutting charge to your order.
Note: If we cut the reed for you there is *NO* return accepted so measure carefully.Special Caution for Schacht Loom Owners: A few years ago Schacht started supplying a reed that was heavier and had plastic pieces installed on the top and bottom edges of the reed (this is the same reed as our "Special-Made Stainless Steel Reeds"). . . at the same time, they changed the width of the bottom reed groove on the beater bar. When they did that, the 'pitch' reeds would no longer drop down into the bottom groove (A 'Pitch" reed is one constructed with a cotton cord [covered with black 'pitch'] wrapped around the top and bottom parts of the reed. 'Pitch' reeds usually have a silver tape covering the top and bottom (as ours do). On a Schacht loom, if the reed groove is wider in the vertical arms of the beater bar than the groove in the cross bar in the beater bar. . . you 'probably' need to order the "Special-Made Stainless Steel Reeds" on a different page.
If you would prefer a heavier duty reed for any loom, order the "Special-Made Stainless Steel Reeds" on a different page.
