This is a complicated book to explain, you sort of have to see it. First, let's just agree that as far as knitting goes Viking=Celtic, you know, the elaborate cable braids on all the tombs. Someone else can argue about who started it. The point here is that once you understand how to make them, there are an endless variety of braids to be knit. I don't think the actual projects in this book are as important as the samples, the inspirations and the technique, and none of it is for the casual knitter, but it's just one more push to the envelop for knitting, and you should see for yourself, there's something there that speaks of magic.
