This beautifully crafted ceramic mortar and pestle is a serious tool, weighing in at about 4-1/2 lbs. The pestle, with a decorated handle reflecting the embroidery patterns of families in Northern India, has a wider than usual base that gives you greater control when grinding peppercorns, fennel seeds and other spices that like to "move around" when being ground.
